Xavier
gains career win # 250 for Coach Neises
Hawks
place 55-37 win over Ripon into the history books
Playing
a lot of individuals made for an inconsistent night
offensively, but nonetheless Xavier's
basketball team gave XHS Coach Tom Neises his 250th career
coaching victory Tuesday.
It was the 5th win in 5 games this season in Eastern
Valley Conference action for the Hawks,
whose 55-37 victory keeps XHS in the top rung of the
league standings and improves Xavier's
season mark to 5-2.
The
Hawks' defense held a very young Ripon team in check in
the first half, as XHS opened up a
31-14 lead by the halftime, not allowing the home team to
reach double digits in either of the first
2 quarters. An unimpressive, 9-point third quarter,
in which Xavier had just 2 field goals, enabled
the Tigers to stay within striking distance.
However, free throws in the fourth quarter by the Hawks
protected the decision.
