Heideman to be inducted into WBCA Hall of Fame Class of '12

Former Xavier coach & XHS grad selected for prestigious basketball coaching honor 

Mike Heideman will be inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame on Oct. 13, 2012 at the Marriott West in Middleton.

The 64-year-old coached and taught at Xavier High School years ago.  He is now an assistant principal at St. Mary Central High School, after returning to the Valley in 2009 to be the athletic director at that school.

Adam Bates: head manager at U-Minnesota

2009 XHS grad moves up in Gopher Basketball program

 

 

Adam Bates, a 2009 graduate of Xavier, is a head manager for the University of Minnesota men's basketball team, starting in 2011.

He is currently a junior at the Division I college located in Minneapolis-St. Paul, pursuing a double major -- in Sports Management and Coaching.  Bates was selected as a manager towards the middle of his freshman year at the university, from a field of 205 candidates.  He began his duties with the basketball program in the spring of 2010.  < MORE >

The team left for Florida in 2011...  6 days in Orlando, for a Thanksgiving tournament.

Bob & Becky Weiske receive prestigious award

Xavier volunteers are honored by the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association

Bob & Becky Weiske received the Distinguished Service Award from the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association.

The prestigious award was presented at a banquet on Nov. 6, 2011 at the Chula Vista Resort & Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells at the group's annual statewide convention of high school athletic directors.

While their three children graduated from Xavier years ago, the couple continues to be dedicated, key volunteers for Xavier Athletics.


Distinguished Service Award recipients   ---   District 4

Becky has coordinated the concessions for all Xavier home athletic events and oversees the Hawks Nest bookstore at Xavier, while Bob has been a valuable member of the Paint Crew for the football game field at Xavier.

All high school AD's in District 4, throughout northeast Wisconsin, voted on the 2011 honor.  Congratulations!!      SEE A PHOTO GALLERY

Dave Ramlet makes mark as long snapper at Minnesota

2010 XHS grad plays Division I football for Gophers, is a red-shirt freshman

The former Xavier athlete is a long snapper for the University of Minnesota football team.  He will make the trip to Los Angeles for the 2011 season opener at USC on Sept. 3 after a redshirt season last year.  Ramlet is #1 on the depth chart for the Gophers.   READ MORE


  

 

  Carlye Schuh sets Marquette U record
  in long jump at incredible 19-feet, 6-inches

Carlye Schuh, a freshman at Marquette University in Milwaukee and a former Xavier standout athlete, broke a 14-year old school record in the long jump on April 30 at a huge invitational track & field meet in Indianapolis, Ind.

Schuh recorded her best distance of an eye-popping 19 feet, 6 inches in that meet to break the Marquette record in the long jump by 1 1/4 inches. The former Xavier star topped the previous school record of 19 feet, 4 3/4 inches.  The mark at the Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis was the best by a Big East Conference student-athlete over the final weekend of April, 2011.      READ MORE ---  ABOUT CARLYE SCHUH

Award was presented
at state convention
in Wisconsin Dells

Kathy Bates, the athletic director at Xavier since
1992, has been selected by her peers as the Athletic Director of the Year for northeastern Wisconsin.

Members in District 4 of the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association voted on the prestigious honor.
It was presented at the 2010 state convention of athletic directors, held at the Chula Vista Resort & Conference Center, in November.

Ashley Barwick playing soccer, basketball
for D-3 University of Dubuque in Iowa

Ashley Barwick, a  former Xavier athlete, is playing women's soccer and women's basketball for the University of Dubuque, a Division III school
in Dubuque, Iowa.  She is pursuing a degree in psychology.

A graduate from Xavier with the Class of 2009, Barwick was a four-time letter winner in girls soccer, girls basketball and cross country… soccer
three-time all conference…  defensive player of the year 2007, 2009.
